Beaver Delivers Walk-Off Homerun

Beaver's Walk-Off Homerun Gives 49ers Victory SANTA BARBARA, CA -- Jessica Beaver hit a walk-off two-run homerun to give the 49ers a 4-3 victory over the Nevada Wolfpack on the final day of the Softball by the Beach Invitational. Long Beach State improved to 3-6 on the season while Nevada fell to 3-7. Kelly Cross (1-0) earned her first victory as a 49er giving up four hits and two earned runs while striking out four in seven innings pitched. Nevada scored two runs in the top of the first, but the 49ers came right back in the bottom half of the inning to tie it up. The 49ers were trailing 3-2 entering the bottom of the seventh. Brianna Goad led the inning off with a walk and advanced to second on a ground out by Whitney Radcliffe. Beaver then smashed her fourth homerun of the season to give Long Beach State the victory. The 49ers are next in action on Friday, February 23 as they take on North Dakota State at 2 pm and Oregon at 7 pm at the San Diego State Aztec Invitational. |
