Trio Vying for All-Conference Honors NORTHRIDGE, CA-- Chris Richardson is just 16 points out of first place after the first day of the Big West Championship Decathlon, while Lauren Reimer and Jaime Cuthbert-Allen are third and fourth, respectively in the heptathlon. Richardson, already an NCAA automatic qualifier and a regional qualifier in three events, scored 3888 points, and is in second behind CS Northridge's Justin Johnson. On the women's side, Reimer produced a solid 2899 points for third place in her first conference championship, while Cuthbert-Allen benefited from a strong 100-meter hurdle to finish fourth with 2814 points. The two events conclude on Sunday. The 49ers have never had all-conference multi-eventers in both events during the same season, but have had conference champions and all-conference performers, with the men last winning in 1999, and the women last winning in 2004. |
