Kay Hoey Tied For 18th Place

AUBURN, WA-- The Long Beach State women's golf team (No. 30 in Golfstat, No. 31 in Golfweek) is in 17th place after two rounds of the 2006 NCAA Division I Women's Golf West Regionals. The tournament is being held at the Washington National Golf Course in Auburn, WA. Long Beach shot a 325 in Friday's second round and currently stand at 56-over for the tournament (632). Purdue is in first place with a 583 while UCLA and Washington are tied for second at 591.

Individually, sophomore Kay Hoey shot a five-over 77 today and is tied for 16th place with a 149 (72-77). Beth Holtermann is tied for 72nd with a 158 (78-80) and Katy Barrett shot an 83 and is tied for 85th with a 162 (79-83).

The overall individual leader after two rounds is the University of Washington's Paige Mackenzie who stands at seven-under 137 (68-69). Three players are tied for second place, seven shots back, with 144's.

The tournament concludes with 18 holes Saturday. The top eight teams in each of the three regionals advance to the NCAA Championships May 23-26 at Columbus, OH. The other Regional sites are the Traditions Golf Club in Bryan, TX and the Bryan Park Championships Course in Browns Summit, NC.
