SAN DIEGO, CA -- The San Diego State Aztecs used a four-run sixth inning to defeat Long Beach State, 5-1, before the 49ers fell to Colorado State, 8-0 in the nightcap at the 2006 Aztec Invitational on Thursday night. LBSU fell to 6-5 on the season.
The Aztecs got on the scoreboard with a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Taryin Casillas scored on a fielder's choice. Long Beach State managed to knot the score at 1-1 in the top of the sixth inning when Michelle Turner's double down the left field line scored Jessica Beaver.
San Diego State responded in the bottom the inning with four runs on one hit and three LBSU errors.
In the second game, CSU jumped on Long Beach State early after a third inning solo home run by Lauren Cusick.
Colorado State added another run in the fourth inning and two in the fifth inning, before a four-run seventh inning.
The 49ers take on Kentucky at 11:15 am tomorrow.
