49ers Open Up Conference Play Perfect at 2-0
Bolt Tallies Game-Winner in 69th Minute

BOX SCORE

LONG BEACH, CA-- Hayley Bolt headed in the game-winner on a re-start in the 69th minute leading Long Beach State (10-2-0, 2-0-0 Big West) to a perfect start in Big West play following a 3-2 victory over visiting CS Northridge (7-5-0, 1-1-0 Big West) on Sunday afternoon. This is just the second time in the program's nine seasons that LBSU has opened conference play 2-0. It is also the fastest the team has reached 10 wins in school-history.

Bolt's header completed a back-and-forth game for the 49ers, who took an early 2-0 lead after 18 minutes, only to watch CSUN break down the 49er defense and score in the 25th and 56th minutes to tie it at 2-2.

Sahar Haghdan tallied both of the early goals for the 49ers, picking up her second two-goal game of the season. She scored on a relay from Jenna Duncan in the third minute and awaited Dana Farquhar's footwook in the 18th minute to work deep in the box before scoring from five yards out to lead 2-0 with 17:44 gone by in the contest.

LBSU nearly took the lead in the 68th minute as Haghdan's shot was saved out, as the ensuing corner kick was shot high by Bolt to keep it at 2-2. A minute later, following a foul 40 yards out, Kim Silos found Bolt for the eventual game-winner.

Kristy Krohn had two chances to tie the match for CSUN, missing a shot to the left in the 73rd minute and having a shot caught in the 76th.

The 49ers are next in action when they travel to the Central Coast for two matches next weekend. The Beach return home October 11 when they host Fresno State.
