Long Beach State Selected to Host Regional

Long Beach State Selected for NCAA Regional BLANK BRACKET (PDF) LONG BEACH, CA-- For the third-straight year, Long Beach State and Blair Field have been selected as a host site for the NCAA baseball playoffs, this year beginning on June 3. The Dirtbags hosted their first regional in 2003 and hosted their first Super Regional in 2004. LBSU will be making their 15th playoff appearance since 1989. This year like two years ago, the Dirtbags will join three other teams at one of 16 regional sites. The winners of each bracket are matched up in one of eight Super Regionals with the winners going to the College World Series in Omaha on June 17. Full session tickets will be available starting on Tuesday at 10 a.m. by calling the Pyramid Box Office at (562) 985-4949 or online at www.longbeachstate.com. All-tournament super boxes will by $80, all-tournament box seats will be $60 and all-tournament general admission passes will be $40. Single game tickets will go on sale on Friday at 10 a.m. with box seats going for $12 and general admission adult tickets going for $8. Youth and senior single game tickets are $6. Should any super box tickets be available they will be $20. Two games will be played on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with a possible winner-take-all game on Monday. Game times will be available on Monday. Long Beach State finished the regular season last Wednesday at 36-20. The Beach are an impressive 24-7 at home this season and carry a 1.48 ERA at Blair Field, as part of the nation's top rated ERA (2.44). Fans are invited to watch the selection show with the team on Memorial Day at Cirivello's Restraunt at 4115 Viking Way in Long Beach starting at 8 a.m. Fans who can not attend can watch the selection show live at 8:30 a.m. on ESPN (changed from earlier reports), or listen to the hour-long playoff preview, hosted by radio play-by-play man Rob Buska, on the internet starting at 9 a.m. 16 REGIONALS SITES |
