Ramos Named Big West Pitcher of the Week

Ramos Named Big West Player of the Week IRVINE, CA-- Long Beach State lefthander Cesar Ramos (Pico Rivera) was named the Big West Conference's co-Pitcher of the Week following a four-hit shutout of No. 14-ranked Wichita State last week. Ramos, the Dirtbags ace at 4-3 with a 1.65 ERA, outdueled fellow All-American and National teammate Mike Pelfrey in a 1-0 defeat at Wichita State last Friday night. The Beach ended up winning the series with the Shockers, it's third series win over a top-15 opponent, all on the road, this season. Ramos has been nearly unstoppable his last five starts, producing an 0.96 ERA, while stiking out 30 and walking just three. This is Ramos' second career Player of the Week honor. Ramos is slated to pitch Thursday to begin College Baseball's Best Rivalry, when the No. 29-ranked Dirtbags (16-9) host arch-rival and current No. 1-ranked CS Fullerton at Blair Field. All three games will be played at 6:30 p.m.. |
