Estrada and Jamison Combine on Five-Hitter
LONG BEACH, CA--Marco Estrada (2-0) pitched 8.0 strong innings and Neil Jamison closed out the ninth for his second save as No. 22-ranked Long Beach State (7-6) won its second-straight over the Aztecs, defeating San Diego State (2-10) 2-1 on Saturday afternoon. Estrada outdueled former 49er Alex Hinshaw (0-3) with one unearned run over 8.0 innings, striking out seven and walking just one. He gave up just five hits. Hinshaw countered with a complete game five-hitter, giving up two unearned runs in the second inning on five hits. Hinshaw struck out six. With two outs in the second, Scott Bradley walked and moved to second on a single by Tito Cruz. Chris Jones then hit a routine flyball to centerfielder Quintin Berry who dropped it and watched as two Dirtbags came home to make it 2-0. Long Beach State hitting coach Don Barbara and Head Coach Mike Weathers were both ejected from the ballgame with two outs and two on in the sixth inning following a called strikeout of Scott Bradley.
