Track Trio Named Academic All-District

49er Trio Named Academic All-District LONG BEACH, CA--Long Beach State junior Jennifer Yadon and sophomore Steve Holland were named first team CoSIDA Academic All-District VIII, while Senior Stephanie Sampson was named second team CoSIDA Academic All-District VIII today.Yadon and Holland will now move on to the national ballot for the honor of being selected as a CoSIDA Academic All-American. Yadon is majoring in Kinesiology and has a cumulative GPA of 3.95. She earned all-conference honors at the Big West Championships after finishing third in the steeplechase. Holland is majoring in Accounting with a cumulative GPA of 4.00 and is the only nominee in District VIII moving on to the national ballot with a 4.00 GPA. He earned all-conference honors after placing third in the hammer at the Big West Championships, and also earned all-region honors after finishing seventh at the West Regional Championships. Sampson graduated in May 2003 with a degree in Communications and is currently working on her Master's in Sport Management, maintaining a 4.00 GPA. Sampson is the 2003 and 2004 Big West Champion in the hammer throw and earned All-Region honors in the hammer at the Regional Championships after finishing eighth. Yadon and Holland will move onto the nationanl ballot for Academic All-American honors. Winners will be announced later this month. |
