Knoff Earns Big West Honor LBSU 36-8 on the Season
April 12, 2004 IRVINE, CA -- Right-handed pitcher, Lindsey Knoff, of the Long Beach State softball team was selected as the Big West Conference Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.
Knoff (Fullerton, Calif.) earned BWC honors after she pitched a perfect game in a 4-0 win over Big West Conference foe, Utah State on April 9. It was her first perfect game in her career, and second no-hitter of the season. In fact Knoff's perfect game came less than a month after teammate Meredith Cervenka pitched a perfect game vs. Iowa on March 20. Knoff also struck out three Aggie batters in 7.0 innings of work. Knoff has compiled a 10-3 record and 1.25 ERA in 89.1 innings of work this season. Knoff joined teammates, Cervenka and Marcel Torres as Conference Pitchers of the Week this season.
Long Beach State (36-8, 6-0 Big West) faces Cal Poly for a three-game series, April 17-18 at the 49er Softball Complex. The 36-8 record is the best record thru 44 games since the 1988 club posted a 36-8 record before losing its ninth game. |
