UCLA Defeats Long Beach State, 5-1
LBSU 0-3 vs. Bruins This Season

FRESNO, CA -- The No. 25-ranked Long Beach State softball team fell to the No. 1-ranked UCLA Bruins, 5-1, in the Clovis Auto Row Softball Classic on the campus of Fresno State on Thursday night. Long Beach State fell to 17-5 on the season.

The Bruins started off hot in the top of the first inning, courtesy of a two-run home run from first baseman, Claire Sua off of starting LBSU pitcher, Meredith Cervenka. UCLA added two more runs in the top of the third inning, after a Stephanie Ramos two-run home run, and a final run in the top of the sixth inning after a solo home run from Sua.

Long Beach State managed to score its lone run in the bottom of the sixth inning, after Marcel Torres connected for a single that scored Jamie Farnworth.

Keira Goerl collected her 13th victory of the season for UCLA, while Cervenka fell to 7-2 after allowing five runs on five hits and eight strikeouts.

LBSU faces Utah in the tournament on Friday at 3:00 p.m.
