| 49ers Win Five Events on Saturday Beach Ready Themselves for Conference Championships May 11, 2002 LOS ANGELES AREA-- Long Beach State track and field, in their final meet before conference, took home five individual titles at the Occidental and Claremont Invitationals. At Claremont, Gladys Iwuaba (38'11.50") won her triple jump, Serena Boykin (49'9.25") won her shot put, Jon O'Neil (62'7.75") won his shot put while Cory Lobel (180'9.00") won his discus. At Occidental, Gina Londano (14.77) won the 100 high hurdles. Four 49ers finished in second place, as Sarah Muilenburg (37'8.50") finished second to Iwuaba in the triple jump, while O'Neil (180'9.00") was second in the discus, both at Claremont. At Occidental, Meghan Atkinson was second in the 400m (56.46), while Mike Akili (21.72) was second in the 200m. Stephanie Sampson was the lone individual 49er to compete at both events, finishing third in the hammer at Occidental (181'3.00") and seventh in the hammer at Claremont (170'6.00").
