| Jerz, O'Neil Set School-Records MPSF Indoor Championships Continue on Saturday February 22, 2002 FLAGSTAFF, AZ-- Connie Jerz and Jon O'Neil each set school-record on their way to strong finishes at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Indoor Championships on Friday. Jerz broke her own school-record in the pole vault for the third time this season, while O'Neil broke his school-record in the weight throw for the second time this year. Jerz vaulted to a height of 13'3.5" to finish sixth, which gives Jerz a very good shot at Nationals in two weeks in Fayettville, AR, and ranks as the 10th best collegiate mark in the country. Jerz' previous school-record was 12'11.50" set last week in Flagstaff, AZ. O'Niel gains a big confidence boost with his school-best toss of 66'11.25" to finish second, heading into next week's USATF National Championships in New York City. O'Niel set the previous school-record at the Wilson Motor Invite in January with a mark of 65'04.25". Other solid performances from the first day's action was Shannon Daniels who posted the second-best distance in the weight throw (53'2"), finishing eighth, and Daniel Gerlach who finished eighth in the long jump (23'8.5"). Tomorrow, The Beach are expecting strong performances in the men's 800m, men's shot put, men's pole vault, men's distance medley, women's high jump, women's triple jump and women's 4x400m relay. |
