Andrew Pham joined the Long Beach State women’s volleyball staff as a volunteer assistant coach prior to the 2019 season.

In his first year on the staff, Pham was a key component to helping Long Beach State make its first postseason appearance in five years as the Beach hosted the 2019 National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC) after putting together a 12-17 overall record.

In conference action, Long Beach State went 9-7 and saw four players named to the Big West All-Conference Team. The Beach boasted three first team selections in Hailey Harward, Kashauna Williams, and YiZhi Xue, while Katie Kennedy was named to the All-Freshman Team.

Pham comes to the Beach after having had success coaching at the club and high school levels. Pham spent several years coaching club volleyball at Dallas Skyline Juniors. As a player, the versatile Pham who saw action as both an outside hitter and setter while serving as team captain lead his team, the Mavs, to five state championships.

A former professional player in his own right, Pham has played internationally in Puerto Rico and Asia, with a stint in the AVP circuit.

The Kansas City native attended Cal, where he played club volleyball. He prepped at St. Pius X High School playing both boys volleyball and basketball.
