Chris Whittle returned to Long Beach State as an Assistant Sports Performance Coach in August 2022.

His previous tenure at The Beach, from 2009 to 2017, saw him serve as the Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning, where he worked with men’s and women’s track and field, softball, women’s soccer, and women’s tennis.

Whittle's coaching career extends beyond Long Beach State, with notable positions as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Temple University from 2004 to 2006 and Villanova University from 2017 to 2019. A former collegiate athlete, Whittle was a four-year letter-winner on the football team at Shippensburg University from 2001 to 2005.

Whittle earned his bachelor’s degree in Communications and Coaching from Shippensburg University in 2005 and followed it with a master’s degree in Health and Exercise Science from Louisiana Tech University in 2007. He holds the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) credential from the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
