Lexi Nielsen joined the coaching staff in 2023 and begins her second season with the program. Her first season with the program saw not only the team capture the Big West Championship and advance to the NCAA Regionals, but also the third individual in program history to compete in the NCAA Championship in Jasmine Leovao in 2023-24.
Utilizing her COVID year, Nielsen played for five seasons at Sonoma State, serving as team captain for two seasons and earning All-America Scholar honors in all five seasons. Over the course of her career, Nielsen set the individual round record of 66 with the Seawolves and was named All-CCAA in three seasons.
The winner of two individual medals with Sonoma State, Nielsen was also part of plenty of team success, setting the low team tournament record of 286 during her time there while also playing a part in 10 team tournament victories as well.
Immediately turning to coaching following her graduation, Nielsen spent last season working with Holy Names University in Oakland. Serving as an assistant coach for both the women’s and men’s programs, both teams reached the postseason and each had a team tournament victory over the course of 2022-23.
