Sebastian Coleman enters his third season as a volunteer assistant coach with the Long Beach State track and field program in 2026, working with The Beach throwers.
A standout during his collegiate career at Long Beach State, Coleman closed his career in 2023 as one of the most decorated throwers in program history. That spring, he swept the Big West Championships in both the discus and hammer throw, earning NCAA West Preliminary berths in each event. He was recognized as the 2023 Big West Men’s Field Athlete of the Year and the 2023 Big West Men’s Athlete of the Meet. During the indoor season, he also captured the MPSF weight throw title.
Coleman was a six-time NCAA West Preliminary qualifier, advancing four times in the discus and twice in the hammer. He won the Big West hammer title in 2022 and was an All-Conference performer in the discus as a freshman in 2019.
By the end of his career, Coleman etched his name into the LBSU record books in multiple events: fifth in the hammer (216-1), fifth in the discus (194-9), 10th in the outdoor shot put (57-8 ¼), 10th in the indoor weight throw (61-9 ½), and 10th in the indoor shot put (55-0).
