Raleigh Adams is in his fourth season as a volunteer assistant coach at Long Beach State, where he works alongside LaTanya Sheffield in guiding the sprinters, hurdlers, and relays. He also serves as the program’s recruiting coordinator, helping identify and attract top talent to The Beach.
A standout student-athlete for Long Beach State from 2016–21, Adams etched his name in program history as one of the top hurdlers ever to wear the Black and Gold. In 2019, he broke a 47-year-old school record in the 110m hurdles, running one of the fastest times in the nation. Ranked seventh in the NCAA, his performance earned him a berth at the NCAA Championships, where he collected All-America honorable mention honors. That same season, he captured the Big West title in the 110m hurdles and helped lead the Beach to the conference team championship, the second of his career (2016, 2019).
Throughout his collegiate career, Adams competed in the 60m, 60m hurdles, 110m hurdles, 400m, 400m hurdles, and both relays. He set multiple personal bests during his All-American 2019 campaign and continues to hold prominent spots in the Long Beach State record books, including the program record in the 110m hurdles and the No. 2 all-time mark in the 60m hurdles indoors.
Before arriving at The Beach, Adams was a record-setting prep athlete at Alhambra High School in Northern California. He set school records in both the 110m hurdles and 300m hurdles, capped by a stellar senior season in which he swept league and section titles and advanced to the CIF State Championship finals in both events.
