Long Beach State Athletics Case Manager

Caitlin Broadwell serves as the Case Manager for Long Beach State assisting athletes in mental health needs.

Caitlin's clinical interests includes identity development, sport and career related issues, and trauma.

A native to Lawrence, Kansas and a graduate of Colorado State University Pueblo and Louisiana State University, has had clinical training in school counseling and sport psychology while at LSU. She was a collegiate indoor volleyball player in undergraduate school and used her fifth year of eligibility at LSU to play beach volleyball while earning two masters. Her internship year was with LSU's Sport Psychology department where she worked with athletes with a variety of issues including grief, trauma, sport & school related issues, stress, interpersonal relationships, and dysfunctional eating. She also worked with teams on creating wellness, team building and mental skills training.

Outside of her professional career, Caitlin loves traveling, listening to music, surfing, reading, promoting social justice movements and being active outside.

What is a case manager?
The athletic case manager serves the student-athlete population as a liaison for all mental health concerns. This case manager provides short term therapy, psycho-education, and assists in assessing the athletes mental health needs to refer to the appropriate service. The case manager works on the health and wellness team, consulting with doctors, athletic trainers, athletic directors, academics, and coaches. They follow up with student athlete cases to ensure a holistic healthy experience at Long Beach State.

Faith Moore
Mental Health Intern - MSW
Faith Moore is a Master of Social Work intern for the CSULB Athletic Department. Originally from Amarillo, Texas, she earned her Bachelor of Social Work from the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas before moving to Los Angeles in 2018 for a year of service with a non-profit organization, seeking to deepen her experience in social work. Faith’s most recent role was with Communities in Schools of Los Angeles, a non-profit whose mission is to surround students with a community of support to help them stay in school and succeed in life. In this role, she worked one-on-one with students on areas such as academics, attendance, and social and emotional well-being. This experience solidified her passion for working in education to support students and address their unique needs. She is excited to bring her experience to her new role and hopes to make a positive impact on our campus community. Outside of school, Faith enjoys spending time with friends, practicing yoga, and trying new food/ restaurants in her free time.
 
Kristen Grant
Mental Health Intern - BSW
Kristen Grant is the Athletics Mental Health Intern at California State University, Long Beach. Currently a senior pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work, Kristen plans to continue her education by transitioning into the Master of Social Work program at CSULB after graduation. With a strong commitment to supporting students, Kristen is dedicated to helping them identify, pursue, and achieve their personal and academic goals. Drawing from her experience as a former softball athlete, she understands the importance of balancing mental and physical health with self-care. Kristen is enthusiastic about contributing to the team and making a positive impact on the student community.
In her personal life, Kristen values spending time with friends and family, traveling, and wakeboarding. She is also dedicated to advocating for individuals impacted by systemic issues.
