Long Beach State rolled to two more wins against Mercyhurst and No. 20 Saint Mary’s.

LA JOLLA, Calif. – Long Beach State dominated Mercyhurst before picking up their first ranked win of the season against No. 20 Saint Mary's to continue their undefeated start to the season at the Triton Invite on Saturday.

Long Beach State (4-0) wasted no time establishing control against Mercyhurst (0-2) in the first game of the day. Harper Stewart got the action started with the first goal of the day in under a minute, and Long Beach State scored five unanswered goals in the first four minutes of play before Mercyhurst got on the board with a Petar Vujovic goal.

Mercyhurst would score a second goal, but LBSU would rip off five more before the end of the first quarter, taking a 10-2 lead. The Beach then held Mercyhurst scoreless over the second and third periods, scoring nine goals of their own to take a 19-2 lead and cruising to a 24-4 win. Keegan Moore, Stanley and redshirt freshman Chase Krupitzer led the way for LBSU with four goals each.

Facing their first ranked opponent of the season in No. 20 Saint Mary's (0-4), Long Beach State used the same routine of jumping out to an early lead behind strong offense. Zalan Nagy opened the scoring with a first-minute goal, and Federico Gulisano followed with the first of his game-high four goals. Two more unanswered goals followed as the Beach took a 4-0 lead in the first quarter.

Saint Mary's pulled back to within three at 5-2, but goals from Gulisano and Stanley returned the momentum to the Beach, who took a 10-5 lead into halftime. Comfortably ahead, Long Beach State led by six at the end of the third and held that cushion the rest of the way to a 16-10 victory over the Gaels.

Long Beach State finishes the Triton Invite with two more games on Sunday. The day begins in the morning as the Beach faces their toughest test yet against No. 8 Pepperdine before LBSU closes out the tournament at 1:20 p.m. against La Verne.
