No. 7 Men’s Water Polo Begins 2026 Season At Triton Invite

A busy schedule at the season kickoff sees Long Beach State playing six games over the next three days.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Defending Big West champions Long Beach State Men's Water Polo will start their 2026 season on the road by taking part in the Triton Invite.
Ranked No. 7 in the preseason poll and boasting the two-time reigning Big West Player of the Year, Gabi Acosta, Long Beach State is primed for another big season as the Beach enters their 21st season under head coach Gavin Arroyo.
In addition to Acosta, junior Corbin Stanley was also named to the seven-player Preseason All-Big West team, as the Beach was picked to repeat as champions in the Big West preseason poll. Long Beach State has four other returning players who scored 20 or more goals last season as the Beach features a potent attack that will get its first test of the new season this weekend.
Long Beach State will play six games as part of the Triton Invite, two each day beginning on Friday, August 28. The tournament will start as the Beach takes on McKendree and Bucknell on the opening day.
Turning to Saturday, the Beach will take on Mercyhurst before facing their first ranked opponent of the season, No. 20 Saint Mary's. Finally, the Beach will have a great early test against No. 8 Pepperdine before closing out the tournament against La Verne on Sunday.
