LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Long Beach State's Cecilia Costa has been named Big West Player of the Week for the second time this season after delivering a match-clinching performance in the Beach's 4-2 comeback victory over No. 60 Dartmouth at the Rhodes Tennis Center.
Costa sealed the win on the top court, rallying from a set down to defeat Peyton Capuano, 5-7, 6-4, 6-1, completing a four-point surge that lifted Long Beach State to its 10th win of the season. Her three-set victory capped a dramatic turnaround for the Beach, who trailed 2-0 after doubles play and an early singles loss.
With the match on the line, Costa showcased composure and resilience, taking control in the final two sets to secure the decisive point. Her performance highlighted a strong day for Long Beach State, which won four singles matches, including three in three sets, to overcome the early deficit.
Costa also contributed in doubles alongside Paulina Franco at the No. 1 position, where the duo held a 6-5 lead before the match was halted.
