LONG BEACH, Calif. -- After an undefeated week in both singles and doubles, Long Beach State's Cecilia Costa has been named Big West Player of the Week, earning the first weekly honor of her career this season.
Costa went a combined 4-0 to lead the Beach to a split weekend at Rhodes Tennis Center, highlighted by a 4-3 victory over UC San Diego. Competing at No. 2 singles, she delivered a pivotal straight-sets win over Alisa Lansky, 6-3, 6-2, helping Long Beach State secure the conference triumph. She followed with another commanding performance against Sacramento State, defeating Lou Baudouin, 6-2, 6-1.
In doubles action, Costa partnered with Paulina Franco at the top flight and proved equally impactful. The duo opened the week with a 6-4 win over UC San Diego to help clinch the doubles point in the 4-3 victory. They then added a 6-3 triumph over Sacramento State, giving the Beach early momentum in both matches.
Costa's consistency across both lineups provided critical points in tightly contested duals and underscored her role as a steady presence at the top of the order.
