Ireland will be responsible for helping to guide strategic communications efforts at the Beach.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State announced Monday that Quinn Ireland will join the Athletics Department leadership team as an Assistant Athletic Director for communications.
"I've had the pleasure to work with Quinn in a professional capacity as a colleague before, and I know that his work ethic, engaging demeanor and communications skills will be a tremendous benefit to Long Beach State Athletics," said Associate Athletics Director Roger Kirk. "His background is a perfect fit for this position and he will help us continue to elevate the success stories of our student-athletes and increase the engagement of our greater community."
Ireland joins the Beach after more than four years at Loyola Marymount University, where he served as assistant sports media relations manager beginning in June 2022. At LMU, Ireland was the primary media relations contact for men's and women's soccer, baseball, men's tennis and women's cross country, while supporting an Athletics Communications office that serves 14 intercollegiate sports programs in the West Coast Conference.
"It is incredible to have this opportunity at a historic California institution, and I am looking forward to helping tell the stories of the vast array of characters within the Long Beach State community," said Ireland.
Prior to LMU, Ireland was sports information director at Marymount California University from October 2021 to June 2022, the lone communications staff member for 12 varsity programs. He also served as the school's home events manager, overseeing setup and teardown for all home events, working as game manager and running the live stream. Ireland previously worked in strategic communications at the University of San Diego, first as an intern and later as an assistant, helping manage a full Division I portfolio during a staff transition.
Earlier in his career, Ireland spent more than two and a half years at Sports Info Solutions, working as a video scout, a minor league site scorer for Lake Elsinore Storm games and a video scout associate. That work dovetails nicely into his sport responsibilities at Long Beach State, where Ireland will serve as the primary contact for Baseball, Women's Soccer, Track and Field/Cross Country and Women's Tennis.
Ireland earned a master's degree in business administration from the Sports MBA program at San Diego State University in 2021 and a bachelor's degree in philosophy, with a minor in history, from West Virginia University in 2015.
