LONG BEACH, Calif. – Radisson Banks turned and fired for a tremendous strike towards the end of the first half, scoring the only goal in a defensive contest that saw the Beach come away with a 1-0 win from George Allen Field over California Baptist.

Long Beach Sate (7-2-5, 1-1-3 Big West) handed the Lancers their second loss of the season, outshooting California Baptist (6-2-3, 1-2-2 Big West) 13-7 and holding the Lancers to just three shots on target on the night.

CBU had the first shot of the game, a 5th minute header from Jessica Ramirez, but would end up with just one other shot in the first 45 as the Beach worked forward. Cherrie Cox worked a great move but had the ball poked away just before the final touch in the 11th minute, and the teams settled in from there.

A turnover off of high pressure led to an opportunity in the 32nd minute for the Beach, and minutes later, Radisson Banks worked a double turn to open up an opportunity to shoot, and struck one cleanly into the corner past Mikayla O'Brien to open the scoring in the 34th minute.

Pushing forward, the Beach had another great shot from Cox in the 57th just over the bar, and then another shot from the senior was turned aside on a foot save from O'Brien in the 58th minute. Banks had another strong opportunity minutes later in another of her six shots on the night.

California Baptist had their best opportunity of the night on the counter, slipping through Maya Yoshimura, but the substitute sent the chance wide in the 70th minute, and the Beach closed out the victory by stifling the Lancer attack and working through the final minutes in the attacking corner.

Long Beach State's four-game homestand concludes next Wednesday, when the Beach hosts rivals Cal State Fullerton at 7 p.m. Live coverage of the game will be provided on ESPN+ from George Allen Field.
