Long Beach State Ties School-Record For Most Goals Scored In 6-0 Win Over Nevada

Long Beach State’s 6-0 win marks the first time since 2018 the Beach have scored six goals.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State's offensive eruption headlined a dominant performance in the Beach's return home following a three-game road trip. The 6-0 win tied both the school record for goals scored and the margin of victory as sophomore Kailey Supa had a brace for the Beach.
From kickoff, the Beach (2-4-0) were in full control as they put forth their best offensive showing of the season, controlling possession throughout the first half and outshooting Nevada (1-3-1) 13-2 before the break.
LBSU broke through in the 27th minute when Cherrie Cox netted her second goal of the season off her own rebound to make it 1-0. Cox's goal was just a preview of what was to come.
The Beach struck again in the 34th minute with a goal from Ameera White to double the advantage, putting LBSU up 2-0.
Long Beach State continued to pour it on in the second half, scoring four goals on seven total shots. Kailey Supa scored her first of two goals in the 55th minute. A goal from Raddison Banks, assisted by Cox, extended the lead to 4-0.
Jordan Candelaria added her first goal of the season in the 74th minute to make it 5-0, before Supa capped the scoring with her second goal of the night to secure the 6-0 final.
Long Beach State's win tied the program mark for most goals in a match, the most since a 2018 contest against St. John's.
The Beach return to the pitch next Thursday when they take on San Diego at George Allen Field. First kick is set for Sept. 11 on ESPN+.
