No. 30 Long Beach State opened the season with a win at the Ram Masters Invitational.

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Fresh off of a win to open the 2025-26 season, Long Beach State Men's Golf will play in their second tournament of the season beginning on Friday, September 19 at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate hosted by New Mexico.

Long Beach State began the season ranked No. 30 in the nation, and impressed in their first outing of the year with five players in the Top 20 on the way to a win at the Ram Masters Invitational in Fort Collins, Colorado after a top three finish in the tournament a season ago. The William H. Tucker Intercollegiate is similar, as the Beach is returning to New Mexico after finishing in third place overall one season ago in the same tournament.

Leading the lineup for Long Beach State is Alejandro de Castro Piera. Ranked in the top 100 last season nationally, the senior is picking up where he left off after a podium finish at the Ram Masters Invitational, taking third place after a final round 64 to finish the tournament at 4-under par.

Playing second will be 2025 Big West Champion Krishnav Chopraa, who finished in a tie for 12th overall in the first week along with Jack Cantlay, who will play third. Jaden Huggins was one stroke back of that duo at the Ram Masters Invitational and will be fourth in the lineup this week for Long Beach State.

Graduate Steen Zeman competed as an individual at Fort Collins Country Club and played his way into the lineup, finishing one place behind de Castro in a tie for fourth place overall at 3-under. Taking his place as an individual in Albuquerque will be Tiger Tahvildari, a junior competing for the first time this season after playing in three tournaments as a sophomore last season.

Playing on the UNM Championship Course, the field features 18 teams in total as the Beach will face the hosts, New Mexico, as well as Colorado, UTEP, Arkansas State, San Francisco, Oral Roberts, NM State, Tarleton State, Rice, Stetson, Fresno State, Colorado State, Grand Canyon, Santa Clara, North Texas, Eastern Michigan and USC.

The tournament is scheduled for 36 holes on Friday before concluding with a final round on Saturday. Scoring will be live through SCOREBOARD at https://scoreboard.clippd.com/tournaments/239974/scoring/team.
