Cherrie Cox Selected To Big West Coaches’ Preseason Team, LBSU Picked To Finish Fourth

Junior forward Cherrie Cox makes her return to pitch this season, along with being named Preseason All-Big West.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Junior Cherrie Cox was named to the Big West Coaches' Preseason Team, one of 11 players selected as the star forward returns to action for Long Beach State this season.
After not competing in 2024, junior forward Cherrie Cox looks to recreate the success she sustained in the 2023 season when she finished the year as First Team United Soccer Coaches All-West Region and named Big West Offensive Player of the Year, leading the conference in goals scored (13), points (30), and shots on goal (33).
Serving as the main catalyst on offense, Cox doubled her points from 2022 to 2023, despite logging fewer minutes. Cox netted two game-winners, leading the team to a 5-3-2 conference record (10-6-4 overall). Marking the most wins for The Beach since 2018 and returning to the Big West Championship.
Long Beach State was picked to finish fourth in the preseason coaches' poll. Along with the return of Cox, the Beach welcomes nine incoming freshmen, five returning redshirts and three transfers to supplement five returning starters and five returning letterwinners.
Women's Soccer begins the regular season with a non-conference game against Hawai'I on Thursday, August 14 starting at 7 p.m. at George Allen Field.
