Sinjin Smith is being promoted ahead of his fourth season at Long Beach State.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Following a season where he helped lead Long Beach State Beach Volleyball to a Big West Championship, Sinjin Smith has been promoted to the program's lead assistant coach alongside head coach Mike Campbell.
In his three seasons with the Beach, the beach volleyball program has won three straight Big West titles, securing NCAA Tournament bids each year and producing four All-American selections along the way.
"It's a major honor to really see the last couple of years come together and be able to step into this position to continue to support this team and help grow and achieve our goals," Smith said.
"It's that sense of grit and hard work and commitment to each other, and the family that the team has, and the nature and the culture that has been developed over the past couple of years," Smith said. "Mike has done a great job over the last decade creating a great team, a great program that I'm looking to be a part of."
Smith has had a decorated history in volleyball before landing at LBSU. Smith completed his undergraduate degree at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo while playing on men's indoor and beach volleyball club teams. At Cal Poly, he served as a student assistant to the Beach Volleyball team, on staff for three straight Big West Championships for the Mustangs (2019-22).
"In his three years as an assistant, he has made a profound impact on the athletes and the championship success within our program. I am excited to continue to be a part of his development as a coach, and I look forward to seeing him grow in this new role," Campbell said.
