Long Beach State Men’s Golf makes their third straight, and seventh overall, NCAA Regional appearance.

LONG BEACH, Calif. – After a third straight Big West Championship Long Beach State Men's Golf, ranked No. 26 in the nation, will be the fifth seed at the upcoming Urbana Regional, contested over three days beginning May 12 at the Atkins Golf Club hosted by Illinois.

Long Beach State is making its seventh NCAA Regional appearance, and fourth in the last five seasons as the program's upward trajectory continues. The Beach is seeking its sixth trip to the NCAA Championship and first in the modern era, coming up just short last season at the Chapel Hill Regional in a seventh-place finish, two strokes out of fifth.

The top five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each of six regional sites will advance to the 2025 NCAA Championship, which will again be held at the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.

The Beach will be taking on 12 other teams in Illinois, with No. 2 Oklahoma State taking the top seed as the Big 12 conference champions. No. 10 North Carolina, No. 14 Illinois and No. 23 Texas Tech were the other programs who grabbed a seed in front of the Beach for the regional. The rest of the field includes in seed order UNLV, Houston, Marquette, Troy, Pacific, NC State and a pair of conference champions in Illinois State and Wright State.

Big West Coach of the Year Rob Murray will run it back with the same five that won the Big West Championship to try to make the push to the NCAA Championship.

Big West Men's Golfer of the Year, senior Charlie Forster will lead off the lineup for the Beach. Forster has been routinely ranked throughout the season, currently No. 31 in the nation, and was fantastic throughout the season on the way to being named the Big West Golfer of the Year. A two-time Big West Golfer of the Month selection, Forster won two tournaments, the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate and the Wyoming Cowboy Classic, setting a program record with a score of 196 (-20) at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club.

Over the season so far, Forster is 40 strokes under par with a stroke average of 70.1 and has finished in the Top 20 in eight of this season's ten competitions, including at the Big West Championship, earning All-Tournament honors after a final round 63 to help the Beach secure a third straight title.

The Beach will turn to another veteran in senior Clay Seeber to play second. A three-time All-Big West selection, the Urbana Regional will mark Seeber's 35th tournament for the Beach as the senior has now played in over 100 rebounds representing Long Beach State. A First-Team All-Big West selection for the second straight season, Seeber competed in eight tournaments for the Beach, finishing in the Top 20 five times including a Top 5 finish at the Arizona Thunderbird Invitational.

Junior Alajandro de Castro Piera, playing third, is in the midst of a phenomenal season. With two runner-up finishes behind Forster at the Lake Las Vegas Invitational and the Wyoming Cowboy Classic, the junior has spent most of the season ranked as an individual as well, currently No. 75 in the country. Under par across the season at -27, his 70.5 stroke average is second-best on the team, and has finished in the Top 20 eight times this season, also earning First Team All-Big West honors.

Junior Jack Cantlay is another staple of the Beach lineup, playing fourth. A Second Team All-Big West pick, Cantlay will be playing in his 30th tournament for the Beach. Cantlay's high finish of the year came at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate in Kauai, where the junior finished in fourth place with an 8-under par 202 after throwing up three straight rounds in the 60s, finishing the regular season with a stroke average of 72.1.

The lineup is rounded out by Big West Individual Medalist Krishnav Chopraa. A First Team All-Big West selection after running away with the conference tournament, the individual medalist shot a 16-under par 200, tying the best score in Big West Championship history while winning the tournament by seven strokes. An albatross during his first-round 63 was a highlight as the sophomore will look to continue his strong form. Senior Steen Zeman will be the team's alternate, with a top five finish this season at the Lake Las Vegas Invitational as an individual.

Tee times for Long Beach State start at 8:30 a.m. CT for the Beach on Monday. Live scoring throughout the tournament will be provided by SCOREBOARD at https://scoreboard.clippd.com/tournaments/236559/scoring/team.
