Record-Setting Win Gives Charlie Forster Final Big West Golfer Of The Month Award

Forster was named the April Golfer of the Month after winning the Wyoming Cowboy Classic.

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Senior Charlie Forster earned Big West Golfer of the Month for the second time this season, claiming the award after winning the Wyoming Cowboy Classic in dominant fashion.

Forster won his second tournament of the season, winning the Wyoming Cowboy Classic by six stokes over Alejando de Castro Piera, and 11 strokes over the rest of the field. His 196 was 20-under par, both 54 hole program records in a dominant performance that saw Forster shoot 67 (-5), 65 (-7), and 64 (-8) over three days at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club.

On the strength of that effort Long Beach State as risen to No. 22 in the latest rankings, the highest in program history, and Charlie Forster will enter the Big West Championship ranked No. 30 in the individual rankings.

Long Beach State begins the Big West Championship this coming weekend, as the tournament will kick off with the first round on Sunday, April 27 from La Quinta Country Club.
