Malia Gementera And Taylor Hagenah Named Pair Of The Week In Last Week Of Regular Season

This is the fifth time this season that they have earned the Pair of the Week award.
LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Malia Gementera and Taylor Hagenah continued their dominance at the first flight as they extended their winning streak to 10 straight, earning the final Big West Pair of the Week award for the 2025 season. Â
The duo earned the first Pair of the Week title back in February as they took down the first-flight pair from No. 9 Cal and has now captured the last one of the regular season after taking their opponents from No. 4 LMU in straight sets. They also bested Utah in three sets to help the Beach sweep the Utes on the final day of the regular season. Â
Gementera and Hagenah have reached 30 wins this season, playing each match at the top flight. Together, they have taken down 15 ranked opponents, with three of their wins coming over top 5 teams.Â
They currently sit at 92 wins, as they solidify their legacy with the most pairs wins in program history. They are two wins away from having the most career wins in LBSU program history. The duo also holds the record for most pairs wins in a single season with 34 wins during the 2023 campaign. Â
Gementera and Hagenah have been the first flight pair for the Beach since their freshman season, where they led Long Beach State to their first Big West title in program history. Together, they have taken down over 25 ranked opponents and were both named First Team All-Americans last season.Â
