Gregory Named Big West Men's Field Athlete of the Week

His 7,557 points at the Texas Relays is the third highest score in Division I this season
LONG BEACH, Calif.—Long Beach State's Ryan Gregory was named Big West Men's Field Athlete of the Week on Apr. 1.
Gregory finished second in the decathlon at the 97th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays presented by Truist last week. Gregory posted personal bests in the 100m (10.79), 400m (48.89), discus (121-0) and 1500m (4:32.44). '
He scored 7,557 points, the third-highest total in school history, and was only 15 away from the title that North Carolina's Max Stakun-Pickering won. The score is currently leads the Big West, is second in the West Region and is the third-highest in NCAA Division I.
Long Beach State is ranked 16th in the first USTFCCCA TFRI Checkpoint, which was released on Tuesday. LBSU hosts the inaugural Battle at the Beach on Friday at the Jack Rose Track. Grand Canyon, LSU, Oregon, and USC will join the beach. The field events are set for 10 a.m., and the track events get underway at noon.
Long Beach State is ranked 16th in the first USTFCCCA TFRI Checkpoint released on Tuesday. The USC women are ranked No. 1 in the poll, while the Trojans' men are ranked second. LSU's men are No. 15, while the Tigers' women are 17th. In the USTFCCCA Regional TFRI Men's Team Summary, the USC men lead the West, followed by Long Beach State. Grand Canyon's men are ninth in the West. LSU is ninth in the South Central Region.
