No. 9 Long Beach State Closes Home Schedule With Two Wins

Long Beach State grabbed two wins at Rosie’s Dog Beach.
LONG BEACH, Calif. - No. 9 Long Beach State completed a weekend sweep Sunday afternoon as the Beach won their final two home matches at Rosie's Dog Beach.
LBSU defeated Boise State 4-1 in the opener. The first flight of Malia Gementera and Taylor Hagenah quickly grabbed a point for the Beach. The dual was won by the second-flight pair of Julia Westby and Haley Carrington, who won two tough sets against the Broncos (4-8).
Long Beach State defeated Concordia Irvine (12-7) 5-0 to end the day. Gementera and Hagenah again quickly put the first point on the board. Mahala Esser and Natalie Glenn also won their match in straight sets.
The second, fourth, and fifth flights all went to a third set after the Beach won the first and dropped the second across the three courts. Mo Gibson and Sammy Okano's fourth flight won their third set, the clinching dual point. The second and fifth flights finished shortly after, and the sweep for the beach was completed.
The Beach (10-4) will travel to San Luis Obispo to play in the Big West Challenge next weekend, where LBSU will play the six other conference schools. The dual will be highlighted by a matchup against No. 6 Cal Poly at Cal Poly's Swanson Beach Volleyball Complex.
