Jankans Named Big West Field Athlete of the Week

Jankans' 7-3 in the high jump leads Division I
LONG BEACH, Calif.—Long Beach State's Kyle Jankans was selected Big West Field Athlete of the Week on Mar. 11.
Jankans won the high jump at the Beach Opener on Mar. 8. The grad student tied Vincent Calhoun (2017) and John Temidara (2004) for the second-highest high jump in school history as he cleared 7-3 to win the event. LBSU legend Dwight Stones is the school record holder at 7-7 1/4.
His 7-3 performance tops Division I as the action begins this week. The second-best is 6-11 by two others, including teammate TJ Funches.
Long Beach State returns to action on Friday when LBSU travels to the Challenge Cup at UC Irvine. The action begins at 1 p.m.
