Softball Announces First Schedule Under New Head Coach Kendall Fearn

The Beach will face some familiar foes and top opponents throughout the season.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State Softball and first-year head coach Kendall Fearn have completed the 2026 schedule, which will once again feature top tournaments, the home Louisville Slugger Invitational and some premier home opponents before another packed Big West slate.

The season begins as Long Beach State will host the annual Louisville Slugger Invitational. The team's home tournament will share some games across the Southland, with Long Beach State hosting five and playing five in total beginning on February 6. The Beach opens with Oregon State and Utah Tech on that Friday, will play Northern Colorado on Saturday, February 7 at LMU before returning to the LBSU Softball Complex for a rematch with the Beavers as well as taking on Utah.
The Beach will then return to the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge, playing in Mexico for five games against Southern Illinois, Eastern Kentucky and UTSA from February 12-14. An annual return to the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic in Cathedral City, Calif. will follow, as the Beach will once against head to one of the premier tournaments in the country. Those five games are highlighted by a matchup against Oklahoma, and the Beach will also play BYU, Bethune Cookman, Oregon State for a third time, and Saint Mary's.
The main non-conference portion of the schedule concludes with a trip to Tucson, Ariz., as the Beach will take part in a tournament hosted by the Wildcats. The Beach will play Arizona twice, Howard twice and face Minnesota in five games from February 27 through March 1.
Long Beach State will host San Diego State in a single game on March 4 before beginning conference play by hosting Cal State Bakersfield, and then welcome North Dakota State the following week as part of a five-game homestand to start March.
More conference play follows, as the Beach will host Hawai'i, UC Davis and UC Santa Barbara before continuing a tradition of facing UCLA. The Bruins will once again come to the LBSU Softball Complex as the Beach takes on UCLA on Wednesday, April 6.
The regular season concludes on May 1-2 as the Beach hosts CSUN for a three-game series, and the Cal State Fullerton will host the Big West Championship for a second straight season May 6-9.
