Beach Tennis Sweeps Doubles In Final Fall Competition

Long Beach State won three doubles matches on the final day of the CSUN Fall Invitational.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State Women's Tennis finished up the final day of the CSUN Fall Invitational with a trio of doubles wins to close the fall season.
The hidden dual format continued, as Long Beach State played San Jose State in doubles and Arkansas State in singles on Sunday. Paulina Franco Martinessi and Thea Jagare led the way with a 7-5 win over Capilla and Losada of the Spartans, while Diana De Simone and Johanna Hiesmair won 6-4 against Katarina Brajovic and Duru Durgun. Playing one extra match, Daisy Carpenter teamed up with Dian Piranda of Youngstown State for a 6-3 victory over Tara Mihaljevic and Emma Fantousis of San Jose State.
In singles, Jagare led the lineup and defeated Anna Grigoreva of Arkansas State 7-5, 7-5. Arkansas State won the remainder of the singles matches, including Sarah Millard who won 7-6, 6-4 over Daria Malaescu who competed for the first time in the tournament on Sunday.
The Beach will take a break, and start the new year and the spring competition season by hosting the Beach Tennis Winter Invitational over three days at the Rhodes Tennis Center from January 16-18.
