Steen Zeman, Jaden Huggins both finished in the Top 15 for Long Beach State.
SEASIDE, Calif. – Long Beach State picked up a spot on the leaderboard to finish the Saint Mary's Invitational in fourth place in a 16-team field, continuing a strong fall.
Final Results
"The boys gave 100% effort and dug deep to finish in fourth," said Rob Murray. "We just didn't have clean rounds without mistakes. We made 57 birdies and three eagles to lead the field but made too many errors to allow us to contend for the win."
Graduate Steen Zeman was one of three in the lineup on Wednesday to shoot under par with a 71, closing out the tournament with his fourth straight Top 20 finish in a tie for 8th place overall with a 2-under par 214. Jaden Huggins used the momentum from an eagle on eight to finish with a 71 as well, one stroke behind Zeman in a tie for 12th place in the third Top 20 finish of the fall for the senior.
Krishnav Chopraa had his best round of the tournament, also shooting a one-under par 71, while Alejandro de Castro Piera closed the tournament with a 73. Steven Deutsch, playing as an individual, had the team's best round, making six birdies on the way to a three-under par 69 to finish in a tie for 23rd at +1.
Long Beach State passed Texas State and finished one stroke behind Santa Clara in third place, while Arkansas State was the team champions in front of the hosts, Saint Mary's.
"Overall for the fall so far we are 60-5 and that's exciting to see," said Murray. To finish fourth with our C game is exciting and we are ready to compete at Cal Poly next week to finish the fall."
Long Beach State Men's Golf will play one more tournament this fall, taking part in the Cal Poly Invitational hosted at The Preserve in Carmel Valley on Monday, October 27 and Tuesday, October 28.
