Long Beach State Men’s Volleyball Hosts The North American Challenge

The Beach welcome five teams from the United States and Canada to battle it out over the next two days in a preseason exhibition tournament
LONG BEACH, Calif. – With the 2025 season right around the corner, the Long Beach State Men's Volleyball team will host the North American Challenge, a preseason exhibition tournament which will feature a total of six teams from the United States and Canada. The event will run from Friday, Jan. 3-Saturday, Jan. 4 with five matches being played on day one and four taking place on day two. The tournament will be held in both the Walter Pyramid and the Gold Mine.
The participating teams include some of the top talent in North America such as No. 2 Trinity Western, No. 6 Saskatchewan, Calgary, No. 10 Pepperdine, No. 18 UC San Diego, and host, No. 2 Long Beach State. The competitive tournament schedule is listed below:

Friday, Jan. 3 – Long Beach State vs. Saskatchewan at 10 a.m. (Gold Mine)
Friday, Jan. 3 – Pepperdine vs. Trinity Western at 12 p.m. (Gold Mine)
Friday, Jan. 3 – UC San Diego vs. Calgary at 2 p.m. (Walter Pyramid)
Friday, Jan. 3 – Pepperdine vs. Saskatchewan at 4:30 p.m. (Walter Pyramid)
Friday, Jan. 3 – Long Beach State vs. Trinity Western at 7 p.m. (Walter Pyramid)
Saturday, Jan. 4 – UC San Diego vs. Saskatchewan at 12 p.m. (Gold Mine)
Saturday, Jan. 4 – Pepperdine vs. Calgary at 2 p.m. (Gold Mine)
Saturday, Jan. 4 – UC San Diego vs. Trinity Western at 4:30 p.m. (Gold Mine)
Saturday, Jan. 4 – Long Beach State vs. Calgary at 7 p.m. (Walter Pyramid)
The tournament will utilize the international points system. Should a team win in 3 or 4 sets, they earn 3 points. Should a team win in 5 sets, they earn 2 points. Should a team lose in 5 sets, they will earn 1 point.
Following each contest, a player of the match from each team will be announced. At the conclusion of the tournament, an All-Tournament Team will be named.
