Beach Track and Field Welcomes 4 New Throwers/Distance Competitors

There are three new throwers and one new distance entry for LBSU
LONG BEACH, Calif.— This week, we have been looking at the newcomers to the Long Beach State Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field program. We conclude with the throwers and distance competitors as Long Beach State welcomes four newcomers for the upcoming 2025 indoor and outdoor campaigns.
Maren Butler • 5-9 • Throws • Gr. • Clovis, Calif. • Tulane • Buchanan HS
Prior to LBSU: A member of the women's track and field team from 2020-23 at Tulane … Placed third in the shot put at 2023 AAC Outdoors with a career-best 51-4 1/4 to earn All-Conference honors … Qualified for and competed in the NCAA East Preliminary in the shot put…Finished ninth in the discus at the 2023 AAC Outdoors … Posted career best in the discus at the 2023 UNF East Coast Relays with a toss of 156-2 … Finished sixth at the 2023 AAC Indoors in the shot put (48-3 1/2) … Was ninth in the discus and 12th in the shot at the 2022 AAC Outdoors … Placed ninth in the shot at the 2022 AAC Indoors.
High School: A 2019 graduate of Buchanan High School … Qualified for the CIF State Track Championships in the shot put in 2018 and 2019 … Placed seventh as a junior and finished 10th as a senior … Won the TRAC and CIF North Area Meet in the shot in 2018 and 2019 … Finished second in the shot at the 2018 CIF Central Section Masters Meet and was third in the shot at the 2019 CIF Central Section Masters Meet … Was the runner-up in the discus at the 2019 TRAC Championships and sixth at the CIF North Area Meet.
Sister Hannah is a member of the track and field team at Long Beach State.

A 2024 graduate of Mission Viejo High School … Won the discus at the South Coast League Finals as a sophomore, junior, and as a senior … Finished second in the discus at the 2024 CIF-SS Finals … Qualified for the 2023 (10th) and 2024 CIF-SS Masters Meet (8th) in the discus … Was fourth in the discus at the 2023 CIF-SS Finals, and fourth in the discus at the 2022 CIF-SS Division 2 Finals … Prep bests were 33-10 in the shot and 147-8 in the discus … A four-time school Scholar-Athlete and was the Most Valuable Point Scorer in the throws as a senior.

A 2024 graduate of Warren High School … Finished 15th in the shot put at the CIF State Championships as a senior … Won the 2024 CIF-Southern Section Division I title in the shot put and finished third in the shot at the 2024 CIF-SS Masters Championships … Was the 2024 Suburban League champion in the discus and shot put … Took first-place in the shot six times as a senior, four times in the discus, and once in the weight throw as a senior … Placed sixth in the shot and 15th in the discus at the 2023 CIF-SS Division I Championships … Prep bests were 58-4 1/2 in the shot, 158-4 in the discus, and 56-0 3/4 in the weight throw.
