Elijah Harris Named CSC Academic All-America

A third-team selection marks the first Academic All-American for Long Beach State since 2017.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Graduate Student Elijah Harris joined a short list of high achievers at Long Beach State to be named an Academic All-American, earning Third Team Honors in Track and Field as announced by Collegiate Sports Communicators (CSC) on Wednesday.
With a GPA of 3.88 while pursuing a Master's in Business Administration, Harris earned All-Big West honors after finishing second in the Long Jump at the Big West Championships. The senior also earned Regional Qualification in the Triple Jump, setting a season and career best at the Stanford Invitational of 15.56 meters.
Harris was one of six Long Beach State student-athletes from Track and Field who were selected as Academic All-District. To be eligible for that award, student-athletes must maintain a GPA of at least 3.50 in addition to meeting strict participation and performance requirements. All-District winner then advance to a national ballot, where a panel votes on winners based on their academic and athletic achievements across the prior year.
Harris is the first Academic All-American since Kobi Pekich of Beach Volleyball was selected in 2017, and becomes the 20th separate honoree from Long Beach State in the history of the Academic All-America program, which dates back to 1952.
