LONG BEACH, Calif.—Long Beach State's Kyle Ashworth and Myles Patton have been named honorable mention All-Big West Conference by a vote of the league's coaches.
Ashworth started 54 of the 55 Dirtbags' games this season, hitting .275 with four home runs and 27 RBI. He tied for the team lead in walks (39) with John Newman Jr. He led the team in runs scored (45), triples (4), and at-bats (207). Ashworth posted a .406 slugging and a .405 on-base percentage. He stole 16 bases in 17 attempts.
In league-only games, Ashworth hit .309 with three home runs and 16 batted in. Ashworth paced Long Beach State in league play with 38 hits and tied with Alex Champagne for the team lead with 20 runs scored. The junior right fielder charted a .447 slugging and a .390 on-base percentage in the 30 conference matchups.
Patton made 11 starts, going 4-3 with a 3.26 ERA. He struck out a team-high 85 while walking 24 in 66.1 innings before injury curtailed his 2024 campaign at the start of May. The sophomore lefty was seventh in the Big West in strikeouts and opposing batting average (.216).
In league-only games, Patton went 3-2 in six Big West starts with a 3.16 ERA. He struck out 41 while walking 14 in 37 innings as opponents hit .213 at the plate.
