Jasmine Leovao Finishes Third NCAA Championship Appearance For Women’s Golf

Leovao had a third round 79 to close the sophomore’s time at the NCAA Championship.
CARLSBAD, Calif. – Sophomore Jasmine Leovao finished her third and final round at the NCAA Championship at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa, carding a 79 Sunday in Carlsbad, Calif.
Over three rounds, Leovao finished with a 15-over 231, shooting back-to-back rounds of 79 after a first round 73 on Friday. Leovao was the fourth highest finisher of the six qualifying individuals for the championship, and placed in a tie for 114th overall among the 156 competing golfers at the championship.
Leovao was the Big West Individual Medalist for the second straight season as Long Beach State also won the team championship, as the Beach advanced to the NCAA Regionals for the fifth time in program history as a team.
Leovao then advanced as the top individual at the NCAA Regional not on an advancing team, becoming just the second LBSU golfer to advance to the NCAA Championship and the first since Kay Hoey qualified twice in 2005 and 2007.
A cut was made to the Top 15 teams and the top nine individuals not on an advancing team following Sunday's third round. Stroke play will conclude with a final 18 on Monday prior to two days of match play to decide the team championship.
