Another Top 100 recruit out of high school, Lloyd Jr. is set to make his Division I debut on the floor with Long Beach State.

LONG BEACH, Calif. – A name that will be familiar to dedicated fans of Long Beach State Men's Basketball, Ramel Lloyd Jr. has announced his intention to come to Long Beach State as a Division I transfer from Nebraska, joining the quickly growing incoming list signed by Chris Acker and his staff.

A consensus Top 100 recruit coming out of Sierra Canyon High School, Lloyd Jr. was part of a stacked roster for Sierra Canyon that ended up ranking in the National High School Top 25, where he averaged 11.6 points 4.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game on a run to the CIF Open Division semifinals, the highest level in California high school basketball.

After a redshirt season in Lincoln, Lloyd Jr. was set to debut for the NCAA Tournament bound Huskers in 2023-24 before suffering a knee injury on the first day of practice, ending his season prematurely.

Lloyd's father, Ramel Lloyd Sr., was a star for three seasons at Long Beach State. Earning First Team All-Big West honors in 2001 as a senior, "Rock" Lloyd is still one of only 10 players to score 600 points in a season for the Beach and he ranks eighth in career scoring at Long Beach State with 1,527 career points.

Acker on Lloyd Jr.:
"We are so excited to bring Ramel back to Long Beach. His dad "Rock" played here and is one of the program's all-time leading scorers. His family's history with the program goes back and we are excited to see how Ramel will build on that legacy. Ramel is a winner, and a young man with a desire to be great. We can't wait to watch him take advantage of his opportunities here at the Beach."

Lloyd Jr. is the second high major transfer coming into the program, joining Devin Askew from Cal, and the fourth Division I transfer overall TJ Wainwright and Derrick Michael Xzavierro. Those four players join a pair of incoming high school recruits in Andrew Nagy and Kam Martin in the quickly growing first class from Chris Acker and his staff.
