Janae Leovao Named Final Big West Women’s Golfer of the Month

The sophomore was selected as the April Golfer of the Month on Thursday.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State sophomore Janae Leovao was named the Big West Women's Golfer of the Month for April as announced by the conference office on Thursday.
The final monthly award of the regular season celebrates success prior to the upcoming Big West Championship, slated to begin on Sunday, April 16.
Leovao highlighted a strong team finish in the team's only tournament prior to the championship in the month of April, the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic. Held at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club, Leovao had three consecutive rounds under par on the way to taking third place overall in a 118-golfer field, 4-under par over 54 holes.
Leovao led two LBSU golfers finishing in the Top 10 as Long Beach State placed second overall in the 21-team field, one of two programs under par as a team, joining team champions Sacramento State.
The April selection is Leovao's second Golfer of the Month award win this season. Leovao was also the October Golfer of the Month after a pair of Top 3 finishes at the Golf Iconic Classic at New Mexico State and The Clash at Boulder Creek. Leovao was the top finisher for the Beach in both tournaments as LBSU claimed back-to-back team championships.
