DiAeris McRaven Earns Big West Defensive Player of the Week

Junior middle blocker DiAeris McRaven earns the weekly honors for the first time in his career

IRVINE, Calif. – The Big West announced the Men's Volleyball weekly awards and Long Beach State's DiAeris McRaven took home Defensive Player of the Week honors for the first time in his career.

Last week, McRaven got the starting nod at middle blocker in a pair of matches against No. 17 UC San Diego. He finished the week with 1.83 blocks per set while contributing 2.17 kills per set on a .450 (13-4-20) attack percentage as the Beach claimed back-to-back sweeps over the Tritons.

McRaven kicked off the week posting seven blocks, a career-high seven kills, and two digs, while hitting .500 (7-2-10) in Friday's match at the Walter Pyramid.

The next night, the junior from Honolulu added four blocks, six kills, and one dig on a .400 (6-2-10) attack percentage to help the Beach extend their winning streak to 10.

On the year, McRaven is averaging 1.19 blocks per set, 1.19 kills per set, while hitting .364 (31-11-55). His blocking defense has helped Long Beach State to a nation-leading 3.36 blocks per set.
