Simon Torwie Named Big West Offensive Player Of The Week

Torwie hit .812 against Lewis with 13 kills and a team-leading six blocks en route to winning The Big West Offensive Player of the Week award

IRVINE, Calif. – The Big West announced the Big West Men's Volleyball Player of the Week award winners and Long Beach State's Simon Torwie was named Offensive Player of the Week.

Torwie, a five-time Big West Defensive Player of the Week honoree, earned his first-ever Offensive honor after leading the top-ranked Beach to a 3-1 win over No. 15 Lewis last week.

The 6-foot-10 middle blocker from Artà, Balearic Islands, Spain had a monster match last week in which he knocked down 13 kills on 16 errorless swings to hit an incredible .812 on Friday. The 13 kills for Torwie ties his career-best which was set on Feb. 3, 2023.

In addition to his offensive prowess, Torwie also led the Beach defensively with six blocks, while adding three digs, and one ace in the contest.

On the year, Torwie is ranked seventh in the nation with 1.14 blocks per set.
