Savannah Tucker and Jada Crawshaw lead the Beach with 16 and 12 points, respectively

STOCKTON, Calif. – Long Beach State came out of the gate hot, but cooled off in the next three quarters as the Beach dropped an 81-65 contest to Pacific on Friday night at the Alex G. Spanos Center.

The Beach (1-1) held a slight edge over the Tigers (2-1) in rebounding, 43-41 as freshman JaQuoia Jones-Brown grabbed a team-leading eight boards.

Offensively, Long Beach State was led by senior Savannah Tucker who finished with 16 points, seven of which were made from the free throw line. Tuckers also added five assists and one steal.

Sophomore Jada Crawshaw also reached double-digits as she concluded the game with 12 points to go along with three rebounds, two blocks, and one assist.

Patricia Chung got the game started with a triple just 12 seconds in to put the Beach on top 3-0. Long Beach State went on a 7-0 run to lead the Tigers 15-9 with 6:02 on the clock. LBSU led by as many as 10 (25-15) in the opening quarter after Judit Oliva Fernandez drained a three at 2:46. Pacific chipped away the LBSU's lead and cut it down to three (27-24) at the end of the first quarter.

The Beach made five three-pointers in the first quarter and shot 58.8% from the field and 71.4% from long distance. However, Long Beach State's shooting would go cold over the next three quarters. Pacific took full advantage of the Beach's offensive struggles and didn't allow LBSU to score more than 23 points for the remainder of the game.

Pacific held a six-point (40-34) lead at halftime, and extended its lead to 15 (59-44) by the end of the third quarter. The Tigers led by as many as 26 (78-52) in the fourth quarter as the hosts defeated the Beach 81-65.

The Tigers had four scorers reach double-figures, as Elizabeth Elliott led the way with 21 points. Right behind her was Lauren Glazer who turned in a 20-point performance. Anaya James finished with a double-double (14 points, 12 rebounds), while adding eight assists, three steals, and two blocks. Rounding out the Tigers' double-figure scorers was Liz Smith who tallied 11 points to go along with six steals, five assists, and four rebounds.

Long Beach State will continue its Northern California road swing on Sunday, Nov. 17 at Sacramento State. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
