AT THE START
Long Beach State enters the NCAA West Regional on Friday in Colfax, Wash. Washington State serves as the host, and the competition will be held at the Colfax Golf Course. The women's 6k race begins at 11 a.m., with the men's 10k race starting at 12 p.m.
 
Scheduled to compete are Arizona, Arizona State, Boise State, Cal Poly, Cal State Fullerton, California, California Baptist, CSUN, Eastern Washington, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Grand Canyon, Hawai'i, Idaho, Long Beach State, LMU, Oregon, Oregon State, Pacific, Pepperdine, Portland, Portland State, Sacramento State, San Diego, San Diego State, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Seattle U, Saint Mary's, Stanford, UC Davis, UC Irvine, UCLA, UC Riverside, UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara, USC, Utah Tech, Washington, and Washington State.
 
THE LAST TIME OUT
Leia Jones turned in the top Long Beach State women's performance at the Nov. 2 Big West Championships as she placed 13th. Jones ran the sixth-fastest 6k time in school history, 20:41.2. She lowered her personal best by almost 14 seconds.
 
Louise Stonham finished 18th at 20:46.6, her second-quickest performance of the season. Allie Scimia placed 37th (21:12.8). Marikay Schwab finished 41st (21:15.4). Sophomore Mackenzie Hack ran a career-best 21:30.0 to come in 49th. Junior Alyssa Tapanes also turned in a career-best, 21:46.6, to finish 55th. Jadyn Palaschuk concluded the Beach scorers in 57th (22:10.5).
 
Long Beach State finished sixth (150) in the team competition. Cal Poly was the team winner (33).
Cameron Rhone was the top finisher for the Beach as he placed 35th at 24:46.8.
 
Quinn Garity finished 37th (24:47.4). Levi Taylor placed 52nd (25:11.6). Cameron Gill was 59th (25:23.1). Kyle Reden came in 61st (25:24.9). Ethan Florez (82nd, 26:23.9) and Brandon Day (83rd, 26:45) rounded out the scorers for the Beach.
 
Long Beach State finished eighth (220) in the team race. Cal Poly earned the team title by scoring 22 points.
