Beach Women’s Basketball Chosen Fourth In The Big West Preseason Coaches’ Poll

Long Beach State moved up three spots in Head Coach Amy Wright’s second year at the helm
IRVINE, Calif. – The Big West released the 2024-25 Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches' Poll and Long Beach State was chosen to finish fourth.
The Beach earned 63 points in the poll and came in behind preseason favorite Hawaii (96 points, 6 first-place votes), UC Irvine (95 points, 5 first-place votes), and UC Davis (81 points). Long Beach State moved up three spots in the preseason poll in Head Coach Amy Wright's second year at the helm as the Beach return half a dozen letterwinners from a year ago, while adding eight talented newcomers to the mix.
Coming in behind LBSU are Cal Poly (61 points), UC San Diego (60 points), UC Santa Barbara (52 points), and UC Riverside (40 points). Rounding out the bottom of the poll are Cal State Fullerton (25 points), Cal State Bakersfield (18 points), and CSUN (14 points).
Last year's leading scorer Savannah Tucker headlines a strong Beach team. The senior from Fresno, Calif., finished last year averaging 12.4 points per game, while also adding 3.4 rebounds per game, 39 assists, 30 steals, and eight blocks.
Long Beach State also brings back senior guard Patricia Chung who led the team with 84 assists, as well as sophomore Jada Crawshaw who led the squad in rebounding (5.1 rpg) and was named to The Big West All-Freshman Team.
The 2024-25 season begins on Saturday, Nov. 9 against William & Mary at the Walter Pyramid. Tip off is set for 2 p.m. Fans can get a preview of the team at the lone exhibition contest on Wednesday, Nov. 6 versus Cal State LA at 6 p.m. in the Walter Pyramid.
